Communicating with Sentient Beings

I became conscious of Sentient Beings when I cultivated lotuses in my garden. That all first happened with the insect world. I was initially only aware of them. Then, I began to communicate with them.

On my morning walk today, a mynah hopped towards the grass verge. I decided to talk to it. It stopped hopping and responded. It’s eye ball moved in my direction and as it did the mynah uttered a tweet. Later, at my lotus pond, I spoke to a toad - as it got out of the pond. It too responded. It stayed still and as I finished speaking it shut its eyelids and then immediately opened them. It continued to stay still as I carried on talking.

When talking to sentient beings, have a low, quiet voice. Keep still as far as possible. If you do wish to move, do so slowly and quietly.

WATERS OF PEACE: The SACRED LOTUS

Spiritually and culturally significant in Eastern cultures, the Sacred Lotus is an ecosystem that thrives in clean freshwater. And as it thrives, it soothes and draws LIFE - both human and sentient (biodiversity increases), due to its unique vibrational field of stillness and bliss. But that is not all. The plant and its ecosystem can also prevent and mitigate flooding, be a means of adaptation to climate change, while offering many a harvestable product of economic value.

Why not then create, revive and conserve Lotus ponds and lakes?

I have spent the past 20+ years cultivating the lotus in huge clay pots and in a pond in my home garden. To know and understand it. I did it slowly, a clay pot/s at a time, then created a tiny pond. I have also travelled with my daughter to seven Asian countries to learn how the Sacred Lotus was adopted. Why go through this effort, you may ask? Because it was a cosmic call in 2001 that I could not at all ignore. When I set off on this spiritual journey, I had no clue whatsoever was in store. All I knew was that I had to keep going, however challenging.

Being an EARTH CARER

What is an Earth Carer? And how does one be an Earth Carer? To know what is an Earth Carer, please refer to my program pages on Being an Earth Carer.

How does one however, be an Earth Carer? Most of us would think of planting trees, being a vegetarian/vegan, minimal or no plastic bag use, less water and energy use, minimise use of cars etc. Taken individually these are symbolic actions. Nevertheless important.

But what kind of living integrates all the above and more? This I shall discuss at a later date.

I became an Earth Carer, though I was totally unaware of it, when I decided to be a full time mother and raise my infant children. That first happened 42 years ago, in 1981, in the highlands of Scotland, and it continued in Malaysia when I returned. I was a full time mother for eight years - until my two children began schooling. During those years, my husband and I had to be prudent about spending, and we postponed our goal of owning a house till I returned to work in paid employment. We lived in the present.

Waters of the Arctic Circle, I want so much to talk to you

Waters of the Arctic Circle,

I want so much to talk to you. Can you kindly hear me out?

Over the past 16 years, I know your deep stillness - in the waters around the Lotus. It was soothing to my spirit. But eight months ago, I began to seek your Being in the waters of a stream flowing into the sea and the waters of the sea, trying to flow into the stream, depending on the tide. I watched mesmerised as the waters merged into each other. I felt You - The Water Being. Then again, as you moved in a torrent in a monsoon drain after a sudden downpour of rain. I keep going back to flowing waters to sense you and understand you.

You of the Waters can be utterly still or flow gently or in a torrent. In recent years, however, you have been increasingly moving and with ferocity. Why?

Has Humankind, in our relentless desire for increased speed and mobility, disturbed you from your states of quiet and stillness? As in ice and glaciers? Guide us, will you, to the truth we need to uncover.

"The Voice of the EARTH" - A Neighbourhood Street Talk for Earth Day 2023

One Sunday in late March, I heard the voices of children and their parents - on a morning walk on my street 12/15. That was how it happened – the idea for “A Street Talk for Earth Day 2023”! But would it be on? As I pondered, the answer came forth. “Voices of the Earth.” Children and parents of Section 12 need to be awakened and educated on the birds found in Section 12. The birds had a story to tell. So did the Tree that some frequently visited in front of our home and garden.

We celebrated Earth Day 2023 on April 22nd with an invitation to parents and children that I personally know. It was important that the number invited was manageable so that there would be participation. Eight children, four parents (one of whom was a father) and even one grandma attended the street talk. A total of 13. It took 40 minutes - planned thus in view of the attention span of the young children between 6-12 years of age.

The talk covered what Earth Day is about and a new set of Tree Posters – one on the Striated Heron (found fishing in the monsoon drain near the playground), one the Crested Goshawk – a hawk eagle that visits our garden and one on the mature Mexican Lilac Tree that provides much shade to all walkers and within which the hawk eagle sits and observes. And one poster on The Earth Child. The tree and the birds were the Voice of the Earth reaching out to the children through me.

An interactive activity took place – an expression of gratitude to the Mexican Lilac Tree by the children.

It was a very successful talk based on the interactive responses, facial expressions of the children and parents during the talk and the interest in participating in the activity conducted.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY 2023, 8th March

Women have accomplished much for themselves, their families, and their communities. It has not been easy, but this happened due to a few bold women who set out to challenge the prevailing norms in the past. While many of us want more - to be equal to men in the workplace and other settings, may we take a moment to reflect upon the following image and its accompanying caption.

THE WATER BEING - Seeking to Know it

Recently in December 2022, while I was on holiday in Langkawi, Malaysia, I felt I needed to know The Water Being. I walked along the seashore and stumbled upon a stream flowing into the sea. It was just perfect. I could watch The Waters of the Stream emptying into The Sea and The Waters of The Sea trying to flow into The Stream depending on the tide. I watched them merge into each other. I felt The Water Being.

Celebrating 21 years with The Sacred Lotus

October 2022 marked my journey of 21 years with the Sacred Lotus. To celebrate this moment and as an offering to the Divine Mother, I opened my Home once again to friends and relatives. This time however modestly. Just inviting 2 folks at a time on three days during the course of the 10 days of Navaratri. Since 2005, I have celebrated my journey with the Sacred Lotus as an offering to the Divine Mother, with Lotus Wick Making Workshops and/or a Lotus Garden Walk (2005, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2017 ) involving 10-20 women. See program The Compassion for Earth Being (THE Lotus Project) Project) . In 2017 I invited 2 men and 2 women - my childhood classmates.

Navaratri 2022 was celebrated with dinner invitations to a couple, a mother and her adult son and to two women for a morning coffee and a chat. All three activities involved an introductory Lotus Garden Walk and an introduction to the Sacred Lotus.

More posters were also added to The Tree Poster Project that I had begun in April 2021 to educate the neighbourhood community.

FAREWELL QUEEN ELIZABETH 11

Dear Queen Elizabeth,

I felt a deep connection with your soul after you had departed.

I had not known you had passed away the afternoon of the 8th of September. On the morning 9th of September, I woke up to memories of my life in Scotland in the 1980s. My husband and I had first set up a home after marriage. And where in Aberdeen I gave birth to my first child, a son, and where both my children began school.

Later that morning on BBC news, I learned of your passing away. I wanted to be close to you, so I began to view photos of you, the Balmoral Castle grounds, and the hills online for some hours. Scotland, its pristine highlands, lochs, and the sound of bagpipes remains entrenched in my heart. Over the next four days, I followed your motorcade closely to Edinburgh.

Ma’am, you were an embodiment of the spirit of the Sacred Lotus – The Flower of the Gods! May God bless your afterlife - with an awakening of Humanity for “Compassion for the Earth Being” and Hope and Peace on Earth through the Sacred Lotus.

May you rest in peace.

Love,

Thaya Kulenthran

Tree Posters on Earth for September -Dec 2022

I felt the pulsating life force of this tree, a tree in another part of Section 12, Petaling Jaya on 30 March 2021. Since then I have begun to feel the pulsating life force of other trees and shrubs.

Tree posters are a great way to gradually educate neighbourhood communities. People are given an opportunity to read at leisure and can even return to the posters another time. We began to display posters regarding Earth on the trees we had planted in front of DayAnidhi Earth in April 2021. Thus far this is the 4th set of tree posters. We are encouraged with walkers - adults and children stopping by to look, read, and take photos of the tree posters.

I Love to TEACH!

IF there is one activity I just love doing, amongst others though, it is to Teach! It is Teacher’s Day today in Malaysia and I was reminded by my school mates “Wishing all Teachers Happy Teachers Day - especially for Thaya and …” how much I need to return to it. That is to include teaching/talks in schools in my outreach activities. Coincidentally somehow, I was instinctively guided for EARTH DAY 2022 (April 22nd) to begin my first class on ‘Compassion for the Earth Being.’ It was a prelude for the Art work I had asked 3 of my young friends to do, for the new set of Tree posters on ‘Compassion for the Earth Being’ that I had planned for outside my home.

Tree Posters and 1st Children’s Class on “Compassion for the Earth Being”

Leading up to this Earth Day 2022, I invited a small team of people - 4 other adults and myself and 3 children who would contribute towards DayAnidhi Earth’s next set of Tree Posters. I also held my 1st class for children aged 7-10 years old on “Compassion for the Earth Being” . Over the past two years I got to know well three children who live in my neighbourhood. Through informal meet up sessions, I educated them on an aspect of the earth, environmental awareness, wildlife etc in our neighbourhood community. I felt they were ready for a class on “Compassion for the Earth Being”. The class was also a prelude to a piece of art work that I had asked them to do for Earth Day 2022 based on the theme “ Compassion for the Earth Being” .

Presented below is a photo of the art work that the children subsequently came up with, a poster photo with a caption - a quote by William Wordsworth put together by two 30++ year old adults based in Melbourne, Australia and a poster of a NASA image of Earth. Woodwork and display of posters was done by an elderly gentleman in his early 70’s.

Note: Tree posters were first begun in April 2021. The next set was put up in December 2021. They were posted on two trees outside the premises of DayAnidhi Earth with the objective of educating the neighbourhood community; focussing primarily on neighbourhood walkers, friends and family who drop by and car drivers who drive slowly.
